Benzoyl Peroxide is one of the most effective antibacterial agents and significantly reduces the presence of P acne bacteria, believed to play a primary role in the inflammatory aspect of the acne process. Used in conjunction with a Skin Care Management System, Benzoyl Peroxide can be a potent tool to achieve dramatic clearing of acne lesions and prevent changes within the follicle associated with the acne process.
Apply in the evening to affected areas, avoiding the eyes. For example, if you have acne on the forehead, the medication should be applied to the entire forehead area. If using the SCMS, apply after Step 4.
Unless the acne is severe, it is generally recommended to begin with the 5% strength in the evening and increase usage to morning if necessary. As skin acclimates, strength may be increased to 10%.
Please note: During the first 1 to 2 weeks of usage, it is not unusual to experience dryness, flaking and increased irritation. Generally, this period of acclimation is brief and can be reasonably managed by limiting frequency of exposure.
